Tourist Guide

To host our guests (either at the airport or at the ports), to give them information, concerning the history, geography and culture of Pico Island, including the whaling tradition. Guests should be accompanied during promenades and museum visits. Candidate should also manage internal animation such as, presentations, topic evening, expositions... It is obligatory to speak at least English. Contract of 6 or 7 months (April/October).

Watchtower lookout substitute

To locate cetaceans from the observation posts on the island (mainly from the watchtower of Queimada) and to direct the boats by radio. This work requires a great patience. Experience is wished and it is preferable to speak English. Contract of 6 or 7 months (April/October), eventually part time schedule.

Waiter and/or waitress

Bar and restaurant service at the hotel "Whale' come to Pico", essentially to attend customers, serve meals and kitchen help. It is obligatory to speak at least English. Contract of 2,4 6 or 7 months (April/October).

Sea Team 2012

This employment is governed by the Portuguese work laws, even for the employees with foreign nationality. The wages are fixed according to the candidate experience and according to normal practice in Portugal, in particular the minimum wage which is approximately €520 monthly (to the 10/10/2011). For the candidates which do not reside at Pico, a lodging is offered. To speak English is obligatory. To speak Portuguese, German or French is preferable. The recruitment priority is given to the people resident in the Azores.
