During thousands of hours spent at sea, Espaço Talassa has witnessed the presence of 4 new species in the Azores, which do not count on the official list. They are the Bryde’s whale (Balaenoptera edeni,) the Long finned pilot whale (Globicephala melaena), the Blainville’s beaked whale (Mesoplodon densirostris) and the Fraser's Dolphin (Lagenodelphis hosei). In 2010, we had our first record of Rough-toothed dolphins (Steno bredanensis), this specie have not been seen in the Archipelago of the Azores since 1995.
